Get To Know Richard
We wanted you to get to know Richard a little better, find out all about him here.
1. Describe yourself in 3 words.
Open, caring, organised (a place for everything and everything in its place!)
2. What made you want to become a presenter / what do you enjoy about the job?
For the love of music – there’s a song for every mood. To be creative.
3. What is you favourite object at Mercia and why?
Studio, of course, full of buttons and gadgets.
And the front door – great to come in, great to go home afterwards!
4. What is your greatest extravagance?
Once the mortgage is paid each month? Not sure I have one! The BMW I’ll buy one day in the future. Last year’s skiing in Finland I guess… so much fun!
5. What's the best advice you have ever been given?
Excellence is very closely related to passion.
And speaking of advice, if you ever get the chance, listen to Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen) by Baz Luhrmann – I played it a few days ago, it’s amazing!
6. What's your most embarrassing moment?
Splattering a VW Beetle (on display when they were new) with projectile vomit. I’m all class.
7. Who would you like to be stuck in a lift with?
Julie Walters – what a laugh! Gordon Ramsay is a big hero of mine, an absolute legend, but I don’t think even he’d be inspiring in a lift. My dog – don’t think she’d like it though. Anybody fit!
8. What mood can you often be found in?
Chirpy and chilled, hopeful and realistic – probably good company in that lift!
9. What is your weakness?
Anything lemon, chocolate obviously, shortbread. Imagine… lemon filled, chocolate covered shortbread?
10. Which celeb would your friends say you are most like?
I don’t know. Some bloke stopped me in a pub in Oxfordshire, convinced I was Robbie Fowler (I think he was playing for Man City at the time), my boss says I look like Marcus from Coronation Street (don’t trust everything your boss tells you) and someone said I resemble the younger Dolmio man off the TV ads!
