Oh yes! The living legend joins us every Friday from LA giving us all the showbiz lowdown.
Award winning rodent Roland Rat is this year celebrating his 25th Anniversary, Roland made his television debut in 1983 and virtually overnight became a household name, he saved ailing breakfast tv station TVAM and was instantly labelled as the 'only rat ever to join a sinking ship.'
Over 400 half hour television programmes were made over twenty five years ...'Rat on the Road'.....'Rolands Winter Wonderland'.....'Roland Goes East'......'Roland Live'. Merchandising poured into the shops...Roland soft toys, bed linen, curtains, toothbrushes, over 100 licensees created thousands of different items. During which time Roland went to Australia to shoot a new series 'Roland Down Under' 20and also Roland Rat stage show’s followed as a matter of course.
'Rat Rapping' Roland's first single went into the top ten, he then produced two albums with Pete Waterman. In 1985 Roland moved to the BBC where he continued to make even more programmes he began with 'Roland Rat the Series', then 'Ratman', 'Tales of the Rodent Sherlock Holmes' and his own quiz show 'Roland's Rat Race', and finally 'Roland Rat the Series 2'.
After six years with the BBC Roland began shooting the first of his many independent productions 'L.A. Rat'. Twenty six episodes were made on location in Los Angeles for Channel 5.
A new series called 'RAT TV' was created for Channel 4’s ‘Big Breakfast’ in 2001, Roland presented on 'I Love The 80’s' in 2002 plus numerous guest appearances, plus another Christmas stage show.
Over the next few years new merchandising and DVD's were launched. More diverse guest appearances on shows like Big Brother, presenting on prime time tv and on radio. A new series for radio and tv called 'the Radio Rat' for the Clear Channel Network in America was developed.
This year Roland has been working with Disney on the Ratatouille promotion campaign in the UK, shot a 4 hour special for HITS tv and again guested on endless radio and tv shows. A new chat show is now being developed and also RAT 66 a series to be shot in the U.S.
After 25 years in showbiz this famous rodent is still bursting with energy yeahhh!!
