Financial Reporting Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be part of a small finance team that is responsible for the accounting of Mercia’s parent and subsidiary companies, operating in a fast-paced, professional environment where everyone collaborates to drive the business forward.

As Financial Reporting Manager you will be responsible for the internal and external reporting for the Group, compliance with accounting standards and maintenance of appropriate internal controls.

LOCATION: Primary office location is Henley-in-Arden

JOB PROFILE (Key Features):

  • Ownership of the monthly management accounts (at both consolidated and individual entity level) reporting process, including ancillary MI reporting
  • Preparation of the PLC Board packs
  • Production of the annual consolidated financial statements and subsidiary company statutory accounts in accordance with prescribed deadlines
  • Manage the completion of the annual tax computations and returns on a timely basis
  • Production of the interim results report
  • Act as one of the primary contacts for the year end and interim audits
  • Ensure that appropriate financial information, controls and processes are in place and are adhered to
  • Support the Group Financial Controller in maintaining accounting policies, procedures and processes
  • Ensure that accounting policies comply with relevant IFRS, FRS 101 and FRS 102
  • Support the Group Financial Controller in efficiency saving and improvement initiatives
  • Manage and develop financial models (e.g. budgets, forecasts, carried interest plans)
  • Support the Group Financial Controller and Executive Team with any ad hoc projects
  • Keep abreast of commercial and operational developments in order to proactively influence and inform business decisions where there is an accounting and/or financial reporting implication

JOB HOLDER (Qualifications and experience):

  • ACA qualified, preferably Big Four trained, with financial auditing experience an advantage
  • Very strong technical and financial reporting knowledge, experienced in the application of FRS101, FRS102 and IFRS
  • Management reporting experience, preferably within the context of an AIM-listed group
  • Experienced in instigating and driving change and continuous improvement
  • Experienced in corporation tax and indirect tax reporting
  • Experienced in drafting accounting policies, procedures and processes and reviewing internal controls
  • Corporate governance experience desirable
  • Experience of working in small finance teams, requiring a hands on approach, preferable

Skills:

  • Sound evaluation and analytical skills
  • Very strong Excel skills, leveraging and developing finance systems and data models
  • Good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products
