A year on after being selected into the first cohort of the GCHQ Cyber Accelerator programme, CyberOwl is launching Medulla at Infosecurity Europe 2018 on 5-7 June 2018.
Medulla is a platform for cyber-risk prioritisation. The technology applies advanced analytics for protective monitoring of information technology and connected operational technology from cyber attacks. The technology is unique in being able to analyse and quantify the level of cyber risk associated with each technology asset in real time, based observed indicators of attack, compromise and anomaly. For security operations, this provides a clear, traceable way of prioritising preventative action and early intervention. For management, this provides a simple way to understand and manage cyber risk across the organisation.
Dan Ng, CEO of CyberOwl said: “from piloting our technology with early design partners, Cisco and QinetiQ, it became clear that our technology had the potential to fundamentally change the way security teams were prioritising responses to risks arising on sophisticated cyber-physical attacks. Medulla is also changing the way CISO’s are communicating cyber-risk to their boards.”
CyberOwl has also strengthened the team with experienced veterans in cyber security, to ensure it remains at the cutting edge and continues to build features and functions in Medulla that solves real customer problems.
Peter Jaco joins the team as Chairman. Peter brings a wealth of experience of building cyber security businesses from scratch. He was co-founder and CEO of Becrypt, an early investor and Advisory Board member of Digital Shadows and has senior advisory roles in technology and innovation for Scottish Enterprise and the British government.
Bryan Littlefair and Ollie Whitehouse joins CyberOwl’s Advisory Board. Bryan is a multi-award winning CISO and was Global CISO at Aviva Group and previously Vodafone Group. Ollie is currently CTO and Board Member of NCC Group, a recognised thought-leader in cyber security innovation and Research and Science Advisor to the UK government. Both Bryan and Ollie bring deep technical expertise, longstanding practical knowledge of customer environments and experience of translating cyber-risk into language that can engage the boardroom.
Peter Jaco believes CyberOwl is primed for rapid international growth: “Medulla addresses a deeper level of threat than many current Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems are able to address and the company is already seeing interest in the platform from a number of Prime Contractors and industry partners. I am looking forward to helping the company achieve their full potential.”
Bryan Littlefair believes Medulla will enable companies to take a more proactive security posture: “I am really excited to join the CyberOwl Advisory Board. The Medulla platform will be a game changer for organisations, enabling them to detect early stage attacks and effectively prioritise their response based on the criticality of the asset. The team of experts are addressing real world gaps in the current security operations suite that’s available in the market today.”
CyberOwl was recently selected into the Top 13 UK’s Most Innovative Small Cyber Companies competition and will be featured in DCMS’ UK Cyber Innovation Zone at Stand Q120, as well as the Midlands Cyber Pavilion at Stand 150.
