A fast-growing Midlands-based commercial heating contractor has secured a six-figure finance package from Mercia’s SME Loans fund to expand its operation and move to new headquarters.
Ignis Group, which began trading in 2018, has increased turnover by over 800% in the past five years and has established itself as one of the leading mechanical contractors in the region. It now employs 25 staff in addition to a UK-wide network of sub-contractors and serves over 1,000 commercial clients including Birmingham City Football Club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, leading Midlands universities and more than 250 schools.
The company offers a full range of commercial heating and mechanical services including service, maintenance, design and installation. The funding will enable Ignis to move to larger premises in Bromsgrove and further expand its team and services.
Ignis Group was founded by its Directors, John Mackin and Terry O’Neill, who are both mechanical engineers with over 20 years’ experience working within education and public sector organisations.
Terry O’Neill said: “We set up Ignis to offer a professional and reliable service to commercial clients, and in particular the education sector. We are very pleased with our progress to date. The funding will enable us to open a new headquarters in Worcestershire where many of our clients are located, provide space to accommodate the growing team and support our ongoing expansion.”
Andy Heaton of Mercia added: “Terry and John are experienced operators who have achieved remarkable success in building a fast-growing business in a competitive sector. In the space of just five years, Ignis has established itself as the number one commercial heating specialist in Worcestershire and one of the leading firms in the Midlands. We are pleased to provide this funding to support the continued growth of the business.”
Paul Varley of Navigate Corporate Finance provided fundraising advice to the company.
