About
Johnny began his career with a placement year at Procter & Gamble’s Innovation Centre in Newcastle while studying for a Master’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. Following graduation, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) with KPMG – spending almost four years in the audit practice working with large corporate clients across a range of sectors.
Previous experience
He then joined consumer goods business Purdy & Figg as Financial Controller – a front-row seat to the opportunities and challenges of scaling a fast-growing company. More recently, Johnny helped establish his family’s investment company, gaining hands-on experience of evaluating and investing in both public and private opportunities. This further developed his interest in investing and ultimately led him to venture. In 2026, Johnny joined Mercia’s Yorkshire team as an Investment Associate, where he supports ambitious founders across the region.
