On the search for Yorkshire’s Top Tech companies

Mercia Fund Managers is supporting the Leeds office of Mills & Reeve with their search for Yorkshire’s most cutting edge and innovative technology companies.

The Top Tech, in partnership with TheBusinessDesk.com, is now open for entries and it is designed to celebrate the region’s pioneering companies who are putting Yorkshire on the map as a growing hub for technological development and innovation.

Yorkshire’s Top Tech is open to companies across the region operating in all tech sub sectors who have developed world-leading technology, are disrupting the market and whose technology and services are helping others become leaders in their fields.

This may be in Agritech where technology is being used to solve problems in agriculture, farming, food production and distribution, or Fintech where technological advancements are revolutionising the delivery of financial services.

The region is at the forefront of Healthtech, where companies are transforming the delivery of healthcare and the health and wellbeing of patients, and Edtech, where technology is improving the performance of our educational institutions, teachers and students.

They are looking for companies whose technologies are disrupting markets across all industries like logistics, communications, energy, manufacturing, real estate, retail, leisure and waste, as well pioneering data and IT services firms who are giving their clients a competitive edge.

Entrants will be judged on technological innovation, leadership, growth and financial performance, client service and delivery and employee engagement.

The expert judging panel includes:

  • Dr Mark Wyatt, investment director, Mercia Fund Managers
  • Richard Faulkner, managing director, Technology Banking at Silicon Valley Bank
  • Phil Smith, research analyst at, SP Angel
  • Mark Fahy, former head of UK SMEs at London Stock Exchange
  • Josh Robson, head of policy and public relations at the ScaleUp Institute
  • Shubhu Patil, principal associate in the Corporate team at the Leeds office of Mills & Reeve, who has a focus on tech sector businesses

Shubhu said: “Yorkshire has always been a hotbed of innovation and entrepreneurship and the Top Tech 20 will celebrate Yorkshire’s burgeoning reputation as a technology hub.

“The technology sector is a major sector focus for Mills & Reeve and, in Yorkshire, we have so many pioneering and transformational companies that we felt that we should showcase the cream of the talent in the region and their contribution to UK and world economies.”

Yorkshire’s Top Tech will be revealed at the launch event on October 18 at The Shears Yard in Leeds.

The companies will be featured in a printed copy of the Top Tech report which will be published on TheBusinessdesk.com and available for download the following day, providing featured business with huge profile opportunities.
