Joining Mercia in November 2021, Justine is a Fund Administrator. She supports the Investment Team with deal preparation and completion, the maintenance of records, and the development, coordination and production of both external and internal reports. Justine is based at Mercia’s head office in Henley-in-Arden.

Previous experience

Prior to joining Mercia, Justine has experience in office management/sales support, predominantly in the Lighting Industry. For a period of nine years Justine supported both the Managing Director/Sales Director and Sales team of a lighting company, initially as a Business Development Executive, then as a Personal Assistant and Sales Co-ordinator. She has worked in other industries including higher education and engineering consultants.

Melanie joined the Group in 2011 as an Investment Executive providing support to EV SME Loans, the RisingStars Growth Funds, Coalfields Growth and the EV Growth Funds Investment Teams which are able to invest in businesses across the UK and in a variety of sectors. Based in Manchester, she is responsible for supporting portfolio management and as such takes responsibility for coordinating the investment process, monitoring portfolio companies during the Fund’s involvement, and also reporting to Fund investors.

Previous experience

Melanie has a background working within the finance and audit function, with a particular focus on governance and compliance. She has previously supported large Government contracts within the Welfare to Work Sector, ensuring the business operated within the parameters of the contracts it managed.

About

Val joined Finance South Yorkshire (now part of the Group) in 2010 as an Investment Administrator within the business loans team based in Yorkshire. She has over 10 years’ experience in fund administration. Val is responsible for administering the day-to-day workload pertaining to pre and post-investment activity, gathering of economic outputs to collate into monthly and quarterly reports, and the diary management and coordination of communication within the NPIF – Mercia Debt Team, which covers Yorkshire and the Humber.

Previous experience

Val spent three years working for YFM Group on its Partnership Investment Finance campaign, where she was responsible for all administrative and PA support and production of analytical reports, as well as managing a small office and subsequent close down procedures of the satellite office at the end of the fund. Her previous background was mainly in line management and administrative support for the retail sector, where training and development was a large part of the role.

Vicky joined the Group in 2016, working predominantly within the Mercia EIS Funds. She supports the Investment Team with deal preparation and completion, the maintenance of records, and the development, coordination and production of both external and internal reports. Vicky is based at Mercia’s head office in Henley-In-Arden.

Previous experience

Vicky completed a degree in Business Administration at De Montfort University in Leicester before joining Williams de Broë (now Investec Wealth & Investment Ltd) in October 2003. She remained at Investec for almost 13 years, first as an administrator, then as a sales support manager for six years, and finally as a funds development manager for her last four years there.

Heather joined the Group in 2006 and provides key support to the EV SME Loans Fund. Heather works across both our Manchester and Preston offices. She is responsible for supporting portfolio management and as such takes responsibility for coordinating the investment process, monitoring portfolio companies during the Fund’s involvement, and also reporting to Fund investors.

Previous experience

Heather has extensive knowledge and experience of PA and administrative functions, and she holds a qualification in Business Studies and Administration.

Helen joined the Group in 2019 as Office Administrator and in early 2020 started a new role as Fund Administrator, working within the MEIF POC Funds. She supports the Investment Team with deal preparation and completion, the maintenance of records, and the development, coordination and production of both external and internal reports. Helen is based at Mercia’s head office in Henley-In-Arden.

Helen is also a member of the Mercia O2 Committee – offering the benefits of diverse opinions, ideas and points of view

Previous experience

Helen has a strong background in office support as well as working in event management. This has included executive assistant positions at CEO level within a variety of industries including television and healthcare. Helen spent nine years living and working in Australia and returned to the UK six years ago. Prior to joining Mercia, Helen spent the last few years employed at a logistics company providing support to the commercial director and departmental heads.
