Ranjan Ramparia is an experienced business professional with a background in corporate finance and investment management. Her experience includes working with institutional investors as well as management teams advising on strategy, funding, business planning and corporate governance. She is a partner at advisory firm Prime Advantage Capital Partners. Her early career was as a fund manager, and she has over 14 years experience of investing in UK small and mid-cap stocks and private equity. She was appointed to the board in May 2022

Deborah has considerable operational and investment experience in technology and software businesses, which represent an important and growing area of focus for Northern Venture Trust PLC.

Previous experience

She is a founding director of Shackleton Ventures, which specialises in secondary venture and development capital investments and has served on the boards of a number of their investments and other earlier stage companies. She was appointed to the Northern Venture Trust Board on 1 January 2022.’

Anna is a Partner at international law firm Addleshaw Goddard LLP and was previously a corporate partner at Pinsent Masons and McGrigors. She is a corporate lawyer with over 25 year experience in a wide range of corporate transactions for private and public companies. This includes supporting start up and growth companies, particularly in the technology and life science sectors, and their management teams, through all stages of growth and development, fundraising, M&A, strategic and financial challenges. She has a particular focus on equity capital markets transactions including AIM IPOs, secondary fundraisings and takeovers and increasingly provides counsel  on governance matters and engagement with stakeholders.

Anna joined the Northern VCT 3 Board in September 2020.

 

 

 

John was until 2015 chief executive of Archangel Investors Limited, a Scottish based syndicate of individual private investors, and sits on the boards of numerous unquoted companies. He also advises two early stage funds and was previously a director of Noble Grossart Limited.

He was appointed to the board in 2007.

Chris is managing partner of io solutions (e-business strategy advisers) and a governor of Teesside University.

He was formerly chairman of Darlington Building Society, group chief executive of Whessoe plc and a non-executive director of NCFE Limited. He was appointed to the Northern 3 VCT PLC board in 2001.

James was chairman and managing director of Stewart Ivory Limited from 1989 until 2000. He is chairman of Value & Income Trust plc, The Monks Investment Trust plc, North American Income Trust plc and The Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust plc, a non-executive director of The Independent Investment Trust plc and a former deputy chairman of the Association of Investment Companies.

He was appointed to the Northern 3 VCT board in 2001 and became chairman in 2009.

Simon has extensive business experience in corporate leadership, financial governance, strategy, communications and sales and marketing.

He has a portfolio of business interests including currently serving as chairman of Ploughshare Innovations and was previously an entrepreneur in residence at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. He was appointed to the Northern 2 VCT board in 2017.

Frank is a partner in IRRfc, a private equity advisory business. He is a past vice-chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association. He was appointed to the Northern 2 VCT board in 1999.

Cecilia was formerly a partner and portfolio manager with Centaurus Capital, a London based hedge fund, head of structured finance at Royal Bank of Scotland and a director of Barclays Capital.

She is a non-executive director of Alcentra and a member of the Industrial Development Advisory Board of the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. She was appointed to the Northern 2 VCT board in 2014.

Alastair co-founded NVM Private Equity in 1988 and was managing director and then financial director before retiring from the firm in 2018, continuing as a consultant until March 2020.

He is a member of the advisory board of North East Finance and a non-executive director of North East Access To Finance and North East Social Investment Company. He was appointed to the Northern 2 VCT board in 1999.
