This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Legal team, with the addition of a Legal Executive Assistant. In this role you will provide proactive and professional legal support to the Group General Counsel and to the team.

This a full-time position and initially you will be expected to work in the office each day to cover our standard induction and training. We are working to a Flex+ policy which allows for core hours and some homeworking during the working week. You would be expected have a full driving licence and your own vehicle to travel to the Henley-in-Arden office and there will be some occasional travel to other offices and locations as required.


In this role you would have responsibility for:

  • Producing and amending legal documents including the creation of precedents and drawing down from templates.
  • Leading on document execution and collation, filing electronic and paper documents.
  • Writing up meeting minutes and assisting with the compilation of Board and Committee meeting packs.
  • Completion of Companies House forms (for approval) and electronic filing.
  • Preparing replies to internal and external correspondence for approval.
  • Regular meetings with the legal team to discuss actions, priorities expectations and future planning.
  • Proactive diary management of the legal team, to include planning and organising meetings, compiling board packs and papers, travel and venue management.
  • Supporting expenses claims.
  • Managing conflicting demands using initiative.
  • Liaison with investment and finance teams.

About you:

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience of working in a legal team, either in private practice or in-house.  Experience of working for a corporate legal team is preferred.
  • Have excellent document production skills, particularly in Word, together with excellent and accurate keyboard skills.
  • Possess good organisational and time management skills to ensure that tasks are effectively scheduled within working time available, and that urgent work is completed and returned within the specified timescales.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work under pressure, without supervision and to a high standard.
  • Always provide an outstanding level of client service, with keen attention paid to every detail.
  • As trusted member of both the legal team and the wider Mercia team, you will have professional integrity.
  • Have good computer skills, including advanced skills in Microsoft applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience using DocuSign, although training can be provided.
